Sorry if I'm clogging up this thread (not sure if it's supposed to be just for registering) but I was wondering if there are other places that one can do Solosprint events with the Solosprint Novice license. Are there events held at Mission or elsewhere, perhaps even Saratoga? I'm just curious. Not sure that i could afford to ferry to the mainland just for an event, but my wife might need to go for school one Saturday which would make a perfect excuse for me to go.

I've been fighting the racing bug for almost 2 years now, but it feels like it's about time to give in and get back into it (at least a little, anyway)

Yes, there are Solosprint events at Mission as well, but they require almost fully prepped cars (roll bars/cage in all cars, fire suit, extinguisher, etc.)

Just a heads-up to everyone, since we hadn't already announced the price... but it's going to be $50 again this year.

Ouch! I guess if I want to go to Mission one day it'll be on a lapping event. Any idea what is the reason for the extra safety requirements compared to running here? I assume the top speeds are quite a bit higher there? I've never seen Mission other than in videos and it's hard to gauge just how fast they get going.

At Mission, all cars that are competing are on the track at the same time and there are passing zones.  At Western there is only 2 cars on at a time, they are spaced apart and there is no passing.

If you are in SP you can use just a rollbar.  You also need 5 point harness, arm restraints, driving suit, gloves, shoes, socks, balaclava, an SA helmet and a fire extinguisher/suppression system.  You only need a cage if you are in GT class.

There is no such thing as a wrong side of a car, just the left and the right.

I have applied for the liscence, but not received it back yet.  I have been told that a list will be sent with the names of people who have applied for the liscence.
